BASIC NEEDS

I need transportation.

Reliable transportation is a must have. However, you may not be able to afford your own vehicle or have an unreliable transportation option. These resources may provide you with more options to get to and from the places where you need to be.

Since 1999, Vehicles for Change has provided the tools necessary to achieve financial stability for families through our car donation and reentry internship programs. Whether a family needs a car or an individual needs a new job, we promote respect and independence. Vehicles for Change offers two programs that award vehicles. To qualify for a vehicle, you must meet the following basic criteria:

  • You must have a driver’s license in the state in which you reside

  • You must be insurable (no DWIs or DUIs)

  • You must not have any other vehicle in your household

  • You must be drug-free

  • You must be able to cover fees for taxes, tags, and title (approximately an additional $500)

  • If you are under the age of 25, you must have children

  • You must be able to afford the ongoing cost of car ownership (insurance, fuel, and repairs, as needed)

  • You may need to meet additional criteria required by your sponsoring agency.

Aunt Bertha

https://www.auntbertha.com/

Aunt Bertha’s network connects people seeking help and verified social care providers that serve them. Thousands of nonprofits and social care providers serve their communities. But for most people, navigating the system to get help has been difficult, time consuming, and frustrating. Too many Americans are suffering, and they don’t need to. So at Aunt Bertha, we created a social care network that connects people and programs — making it easy for people to find social services in their communities, for nonprofits to coordinate their efforts, and for customers to integrate social care into the work they already do. Enter your zip code, and search for free or reduced cost services like medical care, food, job training, and more. Resources are categorized under 10 options. Under the Transit category, you can find resources for:

  • Help Pay for Transit

  • Transportation
